We're not just talking green - we're living it. Every project we touch gets the sustainability treatment because, honestly, there's no other way to build anymore.
Look, sustainability isn't some fancy add-on for us - it's baked into everything we do from day one. We've been at this for years, and we've seen how buildings can either work with the environment or fight it. Spoiler: working with it always wins. Our approach mixes old-school common sense with cutting-edge tech, and yeah, we're pretty proud of what we've achieved.
We design buildings that actually produce their own energy - and sometimes more than they need. Solar's the obvious choice here in BC, but we're also big on geothermal when the site allows it. Had a client last year who's now selling power back to the grid. That's the kind of stuff that keeps us going.
We're picky about what goes into our buildings. Local timber from sustainably managed forests, reclaimed materials that tell a story, low-VOC everything because your lungs deserve better. Sometimes clients think sustainable materials cost way more - but when you factor in durability and health benefits, the math works out pretty well.

From landfills through recyclingWe've navigated pretty much every green building standard out there. Here's what we're most experienced with.
We've done everything from Silver to Platinum. Started with LEED about 8 years back and honestly, it's still one of the most comprehensive systems out there. Yeah, the paperwork's intense, but the results speak for themselves.
This one's tough but worth it. Super-insulated, airtight buildings that barely need heating or cooling. We completed our first Passive House three years ago and got completely hooked. The energy bills are ridiculous - in a good way.
OK, this is the Mount Everest of green building. Net-positive energy, water, waste - the whole deal. We're working on our second LBC project right now and it's pushing us in all the right ways. Not for the faint of heart though.
Building for zero net energy consumption is becoming our standard, not the exception. With BC's electricity mix being pretty clean anyway, getting to net-zero is actually doable without breaking the bank. Solar does most of the heavy lifting.
This one focuses on human health and wellness - air quality, lighting, water quality, all that stuff that actually affects how people feel in a space. We started incorporating WELL principles even before going for certification because, well, it just makes sense.
A homegrown certification that makes a lot of sense for residential projects in Canada. It's more flexible than some of the international standards but still pushes you to do better. Great for clients who want green but aren't ready for the full LEED commitment.
Partnering with UBC to test building materials that actually absorb carbon over their lifetime. Early results are pretty exciting - imagine buildings that clean the air just by existing.
BC's got amazing timber resources, and mass timber construction is way more sustainable than concrete and steel. We're pushing the boundaries on what's possible with CLT and glulam structures.
Moving beyond 'doing less harm' to actually making things better. Our next big project aims to restore local habitat while providing needed housing. That's the future we're building toward.
We're getting serious about measuring and reducing the carbon footprint of construction itself - not just operation. Every material choice matters, and we're building the tools to prove it.
Whether you're thinking LEED, Passive House, or just want a building that doesn't cost a fortune to operate - we've been there and we can help. Every project's different, and we're not gonna push certifications you don't need. Let's talk about what actually makes sense for your site, your budget, and your goals.
Sustainability isn't one-size-fits-all, and after designing green buildings for years across BC, we've learned what works and what's just greenwashing. We'll shoot straight with you.
